Asheboro Zoo
Today we went to the Asheboro Zoo in North Carolina. The boys love animals, and it's a nice zoo. We walked all through "North America" and "Africa", and rode in a zebra painted bus back to the parking lot. Owen was curious as to why he didn't have to wear a seat belt in a bus, when he has to sit in a carseat everywhere else! The trip home should have taken three hours. It took 6 1/2. Oh, and did I mention one of the two dvd players broke, my cellphone battery was dead, and only one of the car chargers worked?? This meant I had to either charge my cellphone, or let 2 kids try to watch a movie on the back of one headrest. Speaking of cellphones, the stinkin' navigation had me go down I-77, I-74 and onto I-81.....not a good route! I should have stuck with 220, the way I always go!!! The boys did amazing well. (until the last 20 minutes or so) I got a little cranky by the third hour.....knowing that I should be home, but we were still on the road, is not a fun feeling. We are all home, safe and sound, and that's all that really matters.

TopSail Beach, NC
Aiden, Owen and I went to visit my friend Carla in North Carolina this weekend. (Maddie is in DC with a friend, and Walker is at Boy Scout camp)We hit the outlets in Smithfield on Thursday, and went to TopSail beach on Friday. It is two hours from her home in Raleigh, and we had a great time. The weather was perfect, and the boys absolutely loved it.

Pirate Party Day
On Friday, mom had a pirate party for all the grandsons. (The girls princess party was last week)It was great! They walked the plank, went on a treasure hunt, complete with chocolate coin filled treasure chests with their names on them. They also chose Pirate names (Aiden was Captain Hook and Owen chose Captain Crunch) and each one got their own ship made out of cake they decorated. No pirate would be complete without a sword, booty bag, hat and eye patch. They chose tattoos and each one has their own parrot. Aiden chose to have his tattoo on his neck....after alcohol, swimming, makeup remover and lotion, it still won't come off!!! He thinks it's great, and that's really all that matters..... And the fun continues on.......

Summer Zoo Trip
This morning, Jaimy and I took the kids (minus Maddie, who is at Girl's Camp)to the zoo. After a walk around, we drove up to the star so the kids could see the view. It was a little foggy, but they still thought it was neat.

The Salem Fair
It has been many years since I went to the Salem fair....maybe even a decade! Tim and his dad always take our kids and Tim's sister Sherry and her kids. I usually stay home with the younger two, but since everyone would enjoy it this year, I tagged along to make sure noone got lost :-)
Besides the blistering heat, they all had a fun time. We even watched a sea lion show, which was cute.

Splash Valley
Today, we braved the 98 degree heat and headed to Splash Valley. It was just me and the boys since Maddie is at the girls "Summer Blast" for church. Whitney, Emma, Laney and Kari joined us, and together we baked in the sun. It appears this evening that I was not as diligent applying sunscreen to myself as I was applying it to the boys. (i.e.-I am red as a lobster, and they are not) ooops. At least it's me and not them! To make things even better, a channel 10news crew showed up, and some of us had unsolicited cameo appearences on the 6:00 news. Walker was excited, I, however, was not.....maybe noone noticed me in the sea of people........

Have you ever.....
......tried to take a picture of 11 children (9 of which are under the age of 6) at the same time??? It is very difficult. Oh well, we tried. Afterwards, we played with sparklers. They were crazy. They seemed to do a little more than "sparkle", and were shooting sparks at everyone. Again, a fun time was had by all.

Happy 4th of July
This evening we went to watch fireworks with the family. We had a great time! Next year, I will remember to dress them in brighter clothes, and bring their glowsticks, as it got dark fast!!!! Thankfully, noone was lost, and we all made it home safely!! By the 13th picture (out of 60) I actually got some decent pictures.
