The Cowboy Party

My dear, sweet, awesome mom has been planning a cowboy party for all the grandkids for a year now.  She made each one a teeshirt, a pony, decorated cowboy hats, bowlos for the boys and necklaces for the girls, and, icing on the cake, took everyone to a farm to ride a horse.  It was crazy hot, but they all a great time.  Afterwards, we went to eat at Racho Viejo.  wooohooo!!

He just looks like he's up to something.....

Youth Conference

Every year the youth ages 14 and up go on retreat.  This year we are at Southern Virginia University.  We are staying in very nice new dorms, which, more importantly, are air conditioned!!!!

It is the first time I have left Aiden and Owen, which was hard....but I know they are having a great time.  I am in a 3 bed dorm, which I have all to myself......I haven't slept alone in almost 20 years!!!!!  Not sure I really like the quiet........

Buddy Check

Aiden and Tyson attended Cub scout camp for the first time this summer.  It was super hot, but Aiden said they had a good time.  I helped out one morning, and it was cute to see what they did when the leader told them to do a 'buddy check'!

Never say never......

For years I have been convinced we didn't need a dog.  I have never really been a fan of dogs, more of a cat person.  The kids, however, have been trying to convince me otherwise.  I finally decided that everyone was old enough to help take care of a dog.  I carefully researched small breeds and we decided on a shih tzu.  Noone locally had any, so Maddie and I drove to Amherst to pick one up.  So far, so good, they are all in love!!  (The cat, not so much.)  We were going to get a male, and name him Calvin (since the cats name is Hobbes)  I ended up choosing a girl, so we are calling her Callie instead.

I even got a cute bag to carry her in to the vet!

Field Day

Monday was field day for West Salem.  I got assigned to the sno cone booth, so I wasn't able to take as many pictures as I would like to.....and I had to use my phone! (no way I was taking any camera near the snow cone stuff!)

They squirted the kids down with Dawn dish detergent, hit them with water from a hose, and down they went

yes, my kid got a bigger sno cone.  Sounds fair, since I made it, right?

shirts

When we went to Tennessee last month, Maddie and Walker were dying for these shirts.  They finally got to wear them at the same time....

not sure what it really means....but it made them happy!
